The Shale Beach Shawl features an elegantly simple allover chevron design, making it the perfect canvas for highlighting many of the beautiful tonal and hand-dyed yarns currently on the market. It is a triangular shawl knit from the top down in three panels. With its simple, straightforward design, the Shale Beach Shawl lends itself to being a great project for novice lace knitters as well.
Our sample was knit double-stranded with approx 1,320 yds (1,206 m) of luscious, Knit Picks Shimmer laceweight yarn to take advantage of the fiber content (70% Baby Alpaca, 30% Silk) and the splendid colorway, Blue Glass. However, this pattern is equally suited to fingering weight yarn knit with a single strand. You will need approx 660 yds (603 m) of fingering weight yarn.
