The Garden Steps Asymmetrical Scarf is inspired by the hidden grottos, rusted wrought iron and damp, moss covered stones that inhabit the shady corners of all secret gardens, both imaginary and real.
This delicate little scarf features a lattice work neck edge border and a lowered stepped selvedge edge. Each point along the selvedge edge features a tiny tendril of glass beads. The scarf is worked from side to side so there are no long rows, making this an excellent travel project or one for when you don’t have long periods to knit at any given time.
The finished, blocked scarf measures approximately 71” (180.5 cm) wide along the top edge and 13” (33 cm) in depth. My sample was knit using approximately 375 yds (343 m) of luscious Madelinetosh Tosh Sock fingering weight yarn in the Moss colorway. What a perfect name and equally perfect color for this scarf!
This downloadable, PDF pattern has been professionally tech edited and test knit to reduce the potential for error. The pattern is fully charted, but also contains line by line written instructions so the ability to read a chart is not necessary in order to work this lovely pattern.
The Garden Steps Asymmetrical Scarf is designed purely as a decorative frill. It can be worn any number of ways making it a versatile lightweight wrap equally at home with casual summer festival attire or dressed up for an evening out. Please bear in mind its dimensions though (detailed on the pattern page) as it is not intended as a full-size shawlette.
