SIZE(S):
Mitts fit hand sizes of an approximately 6.5, 7.25, 8” (16.5, 18.5, 20.5 cm) palm circumference.
Finished circumference (unstretched, measured above thumb gusset) is approx 6.25, 6.88, 7.25” (16, 17.5, 18.5 cm). Finished (adjustable) length is approx 6.5, 7.25, 8” (16.5, 18.5, 20.5 cm).
CHARTED/WRITTEN:
The pattern is fully charted, but also includes complete written directions so the ability to read a chart is not necessary to work this pattern.
GAUGE:
20 sts/30 rnds to 4” x 4” (10 cm x 10 cm) in stockinette stitch, unblocked.
Mitts are worked in the round from the wrist up using a variety of stitches for added visual interest.
To work this pattern, you will need to know:
- Long tail cast-on
- Knit and purl stitches
- Knitting in the round
- Increase and decrease stitches – M1L, M1R, K2TOG, SSK
- Knitting through the back loop
- No cable needle 2 stitch cables
YARN:
114 – 124 yards (104 – 113.5 m) of worsted weight yarn.
A worsted weight yarn with good stitch definition and little to no halo is recommended. Some tonals will work, but highly variegated yarn will distract from the cable stitch pattern.
NEEDLES:
US 6 (4.0 mm) 7” (20 cm) double-pointed
Or any size needed to obtain correct gauge.
