SIZE(S):
Mitts fit hand sizes of approx 7 – 7.75” (17.8 – 19.7 cm) palm circumference. Finished, blocked circumference (unstretched, measured above thumb gusset) is approx 6.9” (17.5 cm). Finished length is approx 7.75” (19.7 cm).
CHARTED/WRITTEN:
The pattern includes complete written directions and is fully charted.
GAUGE:
16 sts/24 rnds to 4” x 4” (10 cm x 10 cm) in stockinette stitch, unblocked.
Mitts are worked in the round from the wrist up using a variety of stitches for added visual interest.
To work this pattern, you will need to know:
- Knit and purl stitches
- Increase and decrease stitches – M1L, M1R, K2TOG, SSK
- Cable stitches – 2/1/2LPC, 2/1/2RPC
- Picking up stitches
YARN:
Allow approx 83 yds (76 m) chunky weight yarn.
Avoid highly variegated and/or excessively fuzzy yarn as it will obscure the cable pattern.
NEEDLES:
US 8 (5.0 mm) 7” (20 cm) double-pointed
US 9 (5.5 mm) 7” (20 cm) double-pointed
Or any size needed to obtain correct gauge.
